If you’re already expert in these unique alloys, then we’re probably already working together, directly or indirectly. However, if duplex and super duplex grades are relatively new to you, or something used occasionally in your business then our new guide is the perfect introduction. Many academic papers have been published covering all aspects of this family of grades, from which we’ve distilled down the key points to just five pages. If you read these then you’ll have a much better appreciation of why they were developed, and why they prove to be so popular for many applications in challenging applications.
Duplex and super duplex stainless steels are now widely accepted in many industries, including Oil and Gas, chemical processing, marine, flue gas desulphurization, mining, fertilizer production, and many components for pumps, valves and fasteners. They provide high levels of yield strength and good levels of impact strength and achieve excellent levels of corrosion resistance in a wide variety of mediums. Duplex stainless steels can be confidently specified for applications between -50°C and +250°C, are resistant to stress corrosion cracking and offer unbeatable levels of cost competitiveness versus more expensive alloys. although more challenging to handle than more standard stainless steels, they can be readily machined, fabricated and welded with the correct tooling and procedures.
Langley Alloys specialise in the distribution of duplex and super duplex stainless steels. We invented the very first super duplex stainless steel, Ferralium 255 (F61, UNS S32550, 1.4507), more than 50 years ago. Since that time, we have encouraged the development of the market, and now stock the most complete range of super duplex grades. As the preferred distribution partner of Sandvik, we carry a complete range of their duplex and super duplex grades, including selected sizes as a hollow bar too. These include Sanmac 2205 (F51, UNS S32205, S1.4462), SAF2507 (F53, UNS S32750, S1.4410) and S32760 (F55, UNS S32760, Zeron 100).
In solid bar, our standard stock range goes from 1/2″ (12.7mm) to 16″ (406.2mm) diameter, with up to 40 different sizes available ex-stock to ensure customers start machining with the most convenient and cost-competitive size. In duplex and super duplex plate, we stock up to 3″ thickness from our warehouse in Portland, USA. In addition, we stock selective sizes of pipes, flanges and fittings and can put together complete pipework packages.
