Here at Langley Alloys, we’d like to consider ourselves ‘The Home of Super Duplex’. We have been supplying unique alloys for 80 years and created the world’s first super duplex stainless steel nearly 50 years ago. So, we’re very confident when we talk about Super Duplex.
Ferralium 255® has been further developed since its original invention and has proven to be an incredibly versatile alloy that has been used for a wide range of purposes.
In addition to Ferralium 255®, our partnership with Sandvik brings two of the key originators of the super duplex stainless steel market together, as their SAF2507™ was first developed in the 1970s. Finally, we also carry extensive stocks of Alloy 32760, the third variant of the super duplex stainless steel family, together with Sandvik’s Sanmac™ 2205, the specially developed duplex stainless steel with enhanced machinability as standard.
Our alloys are well-respected across the world for their use in the major defence, chemical and aerospace industries. With a proud history, we continue to provide unique metal alloys for demanding applications.
Super duplex steels are chosen for their attractive combination of properties. Firstly, they achieve significantly higher strengths than many other alloys, which allows their use in challenging applications, as well as giving clients the potential to reduce components section size, thereby saving cost.
Secondly, they offer excellent levels of corrosion resistance, with Pitting Resistance Equivalent Numbers (PREN) >40, meaning they’re less likely to be affected by adverse elements – making them the perfect material for the chemical processing and Oil & Gas industries – and also less susceptible to stress corrosion cracking.
Finally, super duplex stainless steels are extremely cost competitive against alternative alloys, foregoing highly expensive nickel additions in favour of other elements.
If you’re interested in using our super duplex products for your demanding applications, we’re sure there’s a product in our range that can meet your requirements. To find out more about our product range, please give our helpful team a call today, or send an enquiry online. We will be more than happy to answer any questions that you may have and we can also provide you with expert advice.
Please note: SAF2507 and Sanmac are registered trademarks of Sandvik Intellectual Property AB.
