ASTM is the American Society for Testing and Materials, and A276 is the ‘Standard Specification for Stainless Steel Bars and Shapes.
This general specification for supply defines the composition and mechanical property requirements for a wide range of stainless steels when supplied as bars, whether hot- or cold-finished and whether round, hexagonal or square.
Langley Alloys supplies a wide range of higher performance austenitic stainless steels, duplex and super duplex stainless steels, all of which are included in the ASTM A276 specification. These include:
Sanmac and SAF2507 are registered trademarks of Sandvik Intellectual Property AB. Zeron 100 is a registered trademark of Rolled Alloys Inc. Nitronic is a registered trademark of AK Steel Corporation. Ferralium and Fermionic are registered trademarks of Langley Alloys Ltd.
The ASTM A276 specification is for hot-finished or cold-finished stainless-steel bars except for bars for reforging. This includes round squares, hexagons, and hot-rolled or extruded shapes such as angles, tees and channels that are commonly used types of stainless steel.
The bars will be furnished in one of the following conditions –
The material will be subjected to a mechanical test which determines its tensile strength, yield strength, elongation and Brinell hardness.
